I'm sure you've heard and seen all about this glorious Wedding of the Century! It's all over the place! On the tv, the radio, the internet, the blogs... EVERYWHERE! And there are also all kinds of strange, or funny, or cute souvenirs of this day. So, why would I be an exception? Yeap, that's right! I've made a little something also, but not on purpose actually. It's just that one thing lead to another and... ok, I'm going to reveal to you the secret project that I've been working on these past few days.

Και επίσης υπάρχουν κι ένα σωρό διαφορετικά, περίεργα, ή αστεία, ή και χαριτωμένα σουβενίρ για αυτή τη μέρα. Έτσι, γιατί εγώ να αποτελέσω την εξαίρεση; Ναι, σωστά μαντέψατε! Έφτιαξα κάτι κι εγώ, αλλά όχι επίτηδες. Απλώς το ένα πράγμα έφερε το άλλο και... οκ, θα σας αποκαλύψω το μυστικό project που δουλεύω τις τελευταίες μέρες.

How is everyone today? I hope you have had a great Easter filled with joy and happiness!

We had fun! We went out a lot with our friends and I was so happy that Afrodite and Johny were here too. I miss them both so much since they've moved to Vienna. We always enjoy so much the time we spend together.

Εμείς περάσαμε πολύ καλά! Βγήκαμε με τους φίλους μας και ήμουν τόσο χαρούμενη που ήταν εδώ και η Αφροδίτη με τον Johny. Μου λείπουν και οι δύο πάρα πολύ από τότε που μετακόμισαν στη Βιέννη. Πάντα περνάμε πάρα πολύ καλά μαζί τους!

Great Saturday - Greek Christian Orthodox Easter Customs

On the Great Saturday morning at 11.00 am is the time the Pot Throwing starts, this is to mark the First Resurrection. The Pot Throwing tradition's dating back to the Venetians who used to throw all their old and  useless objects and pots out of their windows on Jan 1st, just as we celebrate new years eve by opening the doors and windows to let the old year out and the new year in. Τhe Pot breaking also resembles the victory  of Jesus Christ against death. This tradition is now carried on by local Corfiot people all over the Island, from corfu town and surrounding villages. After that, our local Philharmonic Orchestras are marching, playing joyful music.


Το Μεγάλο Σάββατο το πρωί στις 11:00 είναι η ώρα όπου ξεκινάει το σπάσιμο των "μπότιδων", αυτό σημαίνει την Πρώτη Ανάσταση. Το έθιμο κρατάει από τους Ενετούς που συνήθιζαν να πετάνε όλα τα παλιά και άχρηστα αντικείμενα και δοχεία έξω από τα παράθυρά τους την 1η Ιανουαρίου, ακριβώς όπως γιορτάζουμε κι εμείς την Πρωτοχρονιά ανοίγοντας τις πόρτες και τα παράθυρα για να φύγει ο παλιός χρόνος και να μπει ο καινούριος. Το σπάσιμο των μπότιδων επίσης συμβολίζει τη νίκη του Ιησού Χριστού ενάντια στο θάνατο. Αυτό το έθιμο τώρα συνεχίζεται από τους ντόπιους σε όλο το νησί, από το κέντρο της πόλης μέχρι τα γύρω χωριά. Μετά από αυτό οι τοπικές Φιλαρμονικές παρελαύνουν, παίζοντας χαρούμενα εμβατήρια.

The main Resurrection Celebration is held later that night. A Greek Orthodox Church Service is held at the main square and once the bells chime midnight the celebration begins with fireworks, orchestral music and singing. (that's when we're holding our decorated candles, to receive the Holy Light).

Ο επίσημος εορτασμός της Ανάστασης γίνεται το βράδυ. Τελείται η Θεία Λειτουργία στην κεντρική πλατεία και μόλις οι καμπάνες σημάνουν μεσάνυχτα αρχίζει ο εορτασμός με πυροτεχνήματα, μουσική και χορωδίες. (τότε είναι που κρατάμε και τις λαμπάδες μας, για να παραλάβουμε το Άγιο Φως).

Great Friday - Greek Christian Orthodox Customs

Tonight I'll be somewhere around Corfu town, watching the procession of the Epitaph and listening to the mourning marches played by the city's Philarmonic Orchestras. I'm so moved by the last march where the "Old Philarmonic Orchestra Kapodistrias" plays the Albinoni's Adagio. Whether you are or aren't a Christian, a believer or not, it surely touches your soul and makes you feel like you are actually watching a real funeral. I'm telling you, I always cry! Maybe I'm deeply moved by music anyway! We are an artistic island after all!

So worth watching this!

Απόψε το βράδυ θα είμαι κάπου τριγύρω στην  πόλη της Κέρκυρας, θα παρακολουθώ την περιφορά του Επιταφίου και θα ακούω τα πένθιμα εμβατήρια που θα παίζονται από τις Φιλαρμονικές της πόλης. Συγκινούμαι τόσο πολύ από το τελευταίο, όπου η "Παλαιά Φιλαρμονική Καποδίστριας" παίζει το Albinoni's Adagio. Είτε είστε Χριστιανός ή όχι, είτε πιστεύετε είτε όχι, σίγουρα θα σας αγγίξει και θα σας κάνει να νιώσετε σαν να βρίσκεστε πραγματικά σε μια κηδεία. Σας το λέω, πάντα κλαίω! Ίσως τελικά απλά με αγγίζει πάρα πολύ η μουσική! Είμαστε καλλιτεχνικό νησί έτσι κι αλλιώς!

Who: Me, my siblings and my grandfather

from the side of my mom.

Where: On our unfinished backyard.

When: Easter, of course, maybe 1986.

Why: Because it was a special occasion, we were all dressed up and we looked like triplets

(all wearing the same color scheme)

This photo is so funny! My mother used to dress us up with similar colors and now that I'm looking back at it, it seems so funny! My sister was afraid of the lamb and she's kind of forced to be in this picture (me and my grandfather are holding her by the hand), that's why she's crying! hahahaha Surely a memory that needed to be captured on film! ;-)

Ποιός: Εγώ, τα αδέρφια μου και ο παππούς μου

(από την μεριά της μαμάς μου).

Πού: Στην μισοτελειωμένη πίσω αυλή μας.

Πότε: Πάσχα φυσικά, ίσως του 1986.

Γιατί: Γιατί ήταν ειδική περίσταση, φορούσαμε τα καλά μας και μοιάζαμε σαν τρίδυμα

(φορούσαμε όλοι την ίδια γκάμα χρωμάτων).

Αυτή η φωτογραφία είναι τόσο αστεία! Η μαμά μου συνήθιζε να μας ντύνει με παρόμοια χρώματα και τώρα που το βλέπω μου φαίνεται τόσο αστείο! Η αδερφή μου φοβόταν το αρνί και φωτογραφήθηκε κατά κάποιο τρόπο με το ζόρι (εγώ και ο παππούς μου την κρατάμε από το χέρι), γι'αυτό και κλαίει! χαχαχα Σίγουρα μια ανάμνηση που έπρεπε να αποτυπωθεί σε φιλμ! ;-)

After a week's absence I'm here again, hopefully, to stay!

Last week was a disaster! It even rained a couple of days!

The only good thing was that on Tueasday my sister came from Berlin but she's leaving tomorrow again. :-(

Isn't It Ironic?!

This songs decribes perfectly my situation these days.

IRONIC, that's the word!

The things that have happened are insane!

I'm up to my head with work that needs to be done,

my color printer has decided to break down just about the time I needed it the most

(440,00 euros - thank you very much!),

an order that I have made can't be delivered on time because their printer has

broked down too - MERCY! - and I'm running like crazy around here!

Oh, and for the last 3-4 days my internet connections works whenever it feels like it!

All these just to say that I'm sorry for the lack of posts lately.

I usually pre-schedule but this time I was totally unprepared.

I hope I'll able to be back real soon but until then...

bare with me! :-)

αποφάσισε να διαλυθεί ακριβώς τη στιγμή που τον χρειαζόμουν περισσότερο

(440,00 ευρώ ζημιά, ευχαριστώ πολύ!), 

μια παραγγελία που έκανα δεν μπορεί να παραδοθεί στην ώρα της γιατί ο εκτυπωτής τους 

χάλασε και αυτός - ΕΛΕΟΣ! - και τρέχω σαν την τρελή! Α, και τις τελευταίες 3-4 μέρες

η σύνδεσή μου στο ίντερνετ λειτουργεί όποτε θέλει αυτή!

Όλα αυτά για να ζητήσω συγνώμη για την απουσία μου τελευταία.

Συνήθως προγραμματίζω τις αναρτήσεις μου αλλά αυτή τη φορά ήμουν εντελώς απροετοίμαστη.

Ελπίζω να μπορέσω να επιστρέψω σύντομα αλλά μέχρι τότε...

Guest Post - Easter Door Hanging

Today we have a guest post from one of my sponsors Kami from Searching from Serendipity. She was kind enough to make this cute tutorial for you! Pay her a visit to thank her for that! ;-)

Hi my name is Kami and I blog over at Searching for Serendipity. I am super excited to be guest blogging for Anzouya today and want to teach you all how to make a fun, easy, and super cute Easter Door Hanging!

First things first gather all of your supplies. You will need three colors of felt, wide ribbon, buttons, a bell, and of course scissors and sewing supplies (this can be done by hand or machine)

Using scrap paper create a template for your bunny shape, keep it fairly simple as it will be easier to sew and cut.

 

Use this template to cut out two of each color of felt, the bunnies will hang better if we sew them two thick.

Now the fun starts! Decorate your bunnies using buttons for eyes, I also added bows for a cute touch. Sew these on before we sew the bunnies together, this way your stitches will be hidden by the back piece of felt.

Once decorated, pin your bunnies to their matching piece of back felt, remember we cut two of each color, and sew them together. If you have a machine this is best, but hand works just fine too. Pinning them in place before sewing just help keep things neat and lined up

Take your wide ribbon and create a 1 inch long loop at the top, sewing closed. This is what your wall hanging will hang from, the loop hides a tack nicely

Line up your bunnies along the ribbon, one above the other, spacing them in a manner that suites your style. I left about a 1/2 inch gap between each of mine

Sew your bunnies onto the ribbon, hand sewing is best for this as you want to go through only the back layer of felt, connecting it to the ribbon. This way your stitches wont be visible on the front.

Attach your bell to the end to give it some weight and you are done! Hang your bunnies proudly on your door!!!
